Outpost 42 is the New Zealand Garrison of the worldwide Star Wars costuming group, the 501st Legion.
The 501st Legion is an all-volunteer organization formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts under a collective identity. The Legion seeks to promote interest in Star Wars through quality costumes, facilitate their use for Star Wars events, and make contributions to the local community through costumed charity and volunteer work.
Our Mission
While we wear the costumes of Stormtroopers, Sith Lords, Bounty Hunters and other villains of the Star Wars films, we dedicate much of our time towards assisting charities and community groups.
Costume Excellence
We build and maintain screen-accurate costumes from the Star Wars universe, adhering to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Charity Work
From hospital visits to fundraising events, we support charities across New Zealand — earning us the tagline ‘Bad Guys doing good.’
Community Events
We appear at conventions, parades, movie premieres, and community events throughout New Zealand, bringing the Star Wars galaxy to life.
