Like many fans around the world, we are sadden to hear of the passing of David Prowse, the man behind Darth Vader's mask.

One of our members SL 27881 who is one of two 501st approved Darth Vader's in New Zealand left a small tribute to be shared.

"Although I was never lucky enough to meet him, as some older members were, realistically he had a huge effect on my life. Without him would star wars be what it is? Bringing Vader to life on the big screen has had a huge part in leading up to where I am with my life today. Without his imposing stature and presence, Vader wouldn't be the most feared villain the galaxy. I hope in my costume I can live up to his legacy."

Buckets off.

Mr Prowse visited my primary school in 1977 in Edinburgh as the Greencross Code man (road safety campaign). A quiet spoken giant of a man - he lifted two teachers up, one in each arm !
